Does anyone else remember when enjoying BL as an English speaker meant that you had probably read every piece of english-translated manga available, and just inhaled every new piece of BL media as it released in English?

I was thinking about this earlier this year when I was trying to recommend a manga to a friend. “It’s about a priest and a criminal who end up in a weird toxic relationship.” I said. “I forgot the title, but it’s a popular author, you know which one I’m talking about, right?”

She in fact did not know which one I was talking about, and proceeded to name off three other manga with that concept that I had never even heard of.

“Oh no”, said I. “Oh when did there become so much BL I haven’t read. “

So a few weeks, while preparing for a zine fair, I put out a request for people’s BL book reviews, with the idea of having a collection of reviews collected. We’re in a position now where we can actually be picky about what we read, and take suggestions instead of simply settling for the scraps that are available.
